Tikehau: The Must-Do Activities

Tikehau: What to do when you get there?

Discover the activities to do in Tikehau! Also known as "the pink sand island", Tikehau is a quiet and preserved atoll where you will find things to do!

Located north of Rangiroa in the Tuamotu archipelago, Tikehau is an atoll with only 2 motus inhabited. Walking or biking around the main motu is the first thing you can do in Tikehau! You can visit at your own pace the only village of the atoll where there are some guesthouses and diving centers, but also walk along the beach on the lagoon side, as well as on the ocean side where you can discover the local legend of the Hina Bell.

Like other atolls in French Polynesia, Tikehau is famous for its dive sites rich in underwater flora and fauna. One of the things to do in Tikehau is to do some exploration diving if you are already certified Level 1, or to do your first dive to make it unforgettable! You will have the opportunity to dive with manta rays in the lagoon, or with sharks in the only pass of the atoll, the Tuheiava pass. Between hammerhead sharks, tiger sharks and many others, your dive in Tikehau will be memorable!

And if diving is not for you, most of the hotels in the atoll like Tikehau by Pearl Resorts, Ninamu Resort or Tikehau Fafarua Lodge Private Island offer boat trips on the lagoon to enjoy its crystal clear waters and the pink sand beaches of the motus. You can enjoy swimming in a heavenly setting, but also snorkeling sessions with black tip sharks or even manta rays! The island of birds in the lagoon will also undoubtedly be part of your boat trip.

Whether you are a diving and wildlife enthusiast, or simply a fan of fare niente on quiet and beautiful beaches, you will surely find your happiness on Tikehau!
