Practical information

A 5-hour excursion including various activities in addition to snowshoeing in the Laurentians: a discovery of ice fishing, a traditional meal, a visit to the Athabascaes Wood Bison Reserve and the Kanatha Aki kennel.

Course of events

- Welcome at the Kanatha Aki chalet

- Meeting with your guide who will explain the activity and safety instructions

- Heading to the frozen lake for the first ice fishing activity: you will make a hole in the ice to fish in, with the possibility of keeping an eye on your lines from the warmth of the fisherman's hut (you can take your catch home with you or eat it on the spot during lunch)

- Return to the camp for lunch: you will enjoy a traditional meal consisting of a typical pea soup as a starter, followed by a fountain salmon from the Kanatha Aki farm cooked on a wood stove, accompanied by buttered potatoes, then an old-fashioned sugar tart for dessert, with soft drinks, coffee, tea or chocolate throughout the meal

- Guided snowshoes excursion to discover the flora and fauna of the Laurentians

- Tour of the Athabascaes Wood Bison Reserve (approx. 15 minutes)

- Stop at a sacred site of the Amerindian ancestors, erected by an Algonquin elder

- Visit to the Kanatha Aki kennels

- Return to the welcome chalet where you can debrief with your guide over a hot drink to finish the activity
