Practical information

A panoramic, accessible day's hike facing due south towards the glaciers of the Reine Meije.

  • Ascent: 450m maximum.
Course of events

Please allow a full day (6h to 6h30) for this activity, including 3 to 4h of hiking.

  • Rendezvous in Villar D'Arène.
  • You will be briefed by your experienced guide on the planned itinerary and safety instructions.
  • Departure for the hike.
  • Wildlife spotting through a telescope: roe deer, chamois, large birds of prey...
  • Learn how to use avalanche transceivers.
  • Depending on your preferences, a number of themes will be covered or developed: wildlife tracks and clues, the history of the Meije, the evolution of Alpine glaciers - climate, the natural and human environment of the Haute Romanche.
  • An exceptional panorama of the Meije and its glaciers.
  • Back to the starting point.
Activity requirements

Participants should be able to complete a day's ride with an ascent of around 450 metres.

Minors must present parental authorisation to take part.

Special terms

We recommend that you take out personal accident insurance covering mountain sports at any altitude.

Don't forget to let us know if you are receiving any special treatment and/or are under medical supervision.

People with motor, mental/psychic or cognitive disabilities, infants and animals are not allowed to take part in this activity.
