Kiruna is the northernmost town in Sweden, situated within the Arctic Circle. It is part of the Lapland region and sits right on the borders of both Norway and Finland. Kiruna is home to the original Icehotel, a unique accommodation built entirely of ice and snow. The Icehotel is a world-famous attraction, featuring stunning ice sculptures and providing guests with a one-of-a-kind Arctic experience.
Your trip begins at the starting point in Kiruna, where you will meet your experienced guide. After a demonstration and safety briefing, you will be equipped to drive your own snowmobile. Each snowmobile will be shared between two, with one driver and one passenger and the chance to switch during the tour. This excursion is family-friendly, children will sit in a sled pulled by the guide's snowmobile. After dressing in your Arctic gear, you will set off into the forests!
Snowmobiling in Northern Sweden is one of the most thrilling winter activities. It's an incredible feeling surfing on a powerful machine through undiscovered landscapes that are off the beaten track. The tour will take you through the Lappish nature, you will drive through forests, over frozen lakes, and along the frozen Torne River, a magical experience! After being fully immersed in the winter wonderland, you will take a break in a traditional wooden hut, where you'll relax around a campfire with sandwiches and hot drinks.
Then, it is time for the highlight of the tour. You will visit the world-renowned Icehotel. This seasonal hotel is located in a small village just outside of Kiruna called Jukkasjärvi. The Icehotel is a temporary structure that is constructed annually in the winter months when temperatures drop low enough to sustain the ice and snow. Here, you will be able to visit individually themed ice rooms, including an ice bar, an ice chapel (for weddings), and common areas. The structure is made entirely of ice blocks harvested from the nearby Torne River, and the rooms are kept at a constant sub-zero temperature. After exploring this iconic structure, the guide will transport you back to the starting point in Kiruna.
Don't miss this tour for the best possible combination of all winter trips - a snowmobile excursion and a visit to the famous Icehotel from Kiruna!
