A 5-hour introduction to caving at the Eaux-Chaudes cave in Laruns.
Please allow a full day for this activity, including 5 hours in the cave.
- Meet at the college car park in Laruns.
- Set up the equipment.
- Approach walk to the cave.
- Briefing by your instructor on the activity, equipment and safety rules.
- 5 hours caving in the Eaux-Chaudes cave, with a picnic break.
- Progress underground will mainly involve walking, but there will also be a few passages where you'll have to sneak along and 2 or 3 passages where you'll be roped up.
- De-equipping and debriefing.
You need to be in good physical condition to take part in this activity.
A minimum of 4 participants is required.
You will need to use your own vehicle to get to the meeting point.
In the cave, the temperature is constant underground throughout the year, at around 13°C.
The cave is not subject to the risk of rising water levels: you can even go there when it's raining heavily. So it can be enjoyed all year round.
