Once your full-day guided hike to Salto do Prego is confirmed, you will need to contact your instructor to set up your pick up location in Ponta Delgada. There, your instructor will pick you up and drive you toward the parish of Faial da Terra, where your excursion will begin!
You will start hiking along a stream, with a moderate ascent. Your full-day guided hike to Salto do Prego will take you through a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere as you continue through the forest, passing diverse obstacles and incredible views that only the Azores can offer. Once you reach Salto do Prego Waterfall, you'll take a break and even be able to swim in the natural pool at the bottom of the waterfall, or just relax and regain your strength.
Once you're ready, you'll start the return hike and head towards the village of Sanguinho, an old settlement that was abandoned decades ago, but is now being restored. You'll follow a route with incredible panoramic views of the valley and the ocean. Then, once you reach the last point of your full-day guided hike to Salto do Prego, you'll have a picnic lunch provided by your instructors, before you continue with a scenic walk around the parish of Furnas, one of the most visited spots in São Miguel, thanks to the incredible volcanic activity that you'll be able to see!
If you want, you can spend some time in one of the island's famous thermal pools, or if not, your instructor will simply drive you back to where they picked you up for the end of your experience. Don't forget to bring your own bottle of water, as well as comfortable clothes, sports shoes or trekking boots, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and any other elements you might need (medicine, elastic support, etc.) to make the experience as comfortable and safe as possible.
